LIVE CINEMA CHOREOGRAPHY
FAKERS CLUB: LIVE CINEMA PUBLIC PERFORMANCE EXPERIMENT is an on-going performance series/practice directed by Stephanie Miracle. It is a hybrid practice between cinematic and choreographic thinking within uncontrollable public settings. The missing apostrophe in FAKERS CLUB is intentional and subverts the notion of ownership in our title, reinforcing a collaborative process. Since FAKERS CLUB’s inception in 2015 I have been creating new Episodes with my international ensemble using time-based dramaturgical structures with situational ingredients from these public spaces and a filmic logic that invite audiences and passersby to look more closely at what is around. The aesthetic of this project references the films of Alfred Hitchcock and Jacque Tati and frequently uses the color, humor, suspense, and cliffhangers as devices to both welcome and playful capture attention.

“Fanny & Calvin" (2025)
The Fanny and Calvin series is an extension of my FAKERS CLUB project created through the support of an ICRU fellowship in the summer of 2025 and featuring undergraduate theater/dance student Jason Version. The series is a secret-agent buddy comedy presented in three 15-minute immersive episodes linked by cliffhangers. Designed for small audiences of four, each episode guided participants through the Chauncey building in downtown Iowa City, offering a cinematic POV creating an effect of the audience's eye as the camera in a personalized film. *Video link included is a of a trailer for the project. Full documentation of the project is coming soon. |
